By comparing a PC with a Phenom X4 2.6GHz with two 4870s graphics cards in Crossfire mode and another PC with Intel's QX9650 at 3Ghz and also the two same ATI Radeon cards, Moorhead wants to prove that you can have a very similar visual experience with a PC that costs $900 less!

"The only big difference here is the CPU and obviously the motherboard... Basically it's a very consistent experience between the 2 platforms. This is Call Duty 4... A huge difference though. The Intel system is $900 more expensive than the AMD game system primarily driven by the processor cost and the motherboard. So what this says is essentially when it comes to Call of Duty 4 is GPU limited. Particularly when you're running it at the higher resolutions with anti-aliasing turned on, anastropic filtering up really high... It doesn't say that the processor doesn't matter but what it says here is that at $215 processor not a $1,000 processor, you'll get a very similar experience... What could you do with the extra $900? You could buy 20 game titles, a 27" monitor, a cool racing gear with the seat to play an F1 game...".

    I agree with madnessxxi, I just want a good gaming PC that runs smooth. right now I just have a intel P4 setup, AGP 512 Vid Card, not much power for todays games.

    my next PC build will be a AMD Phenom 9950, AMD 780or790 chipset, with ATI 4870 or 4870x2.

    Nice try to show the Intelfanboys the truth. You can get nearly the same for less money!
    Intel is better, but lol, 10fps? Wtf? I need to spend $900 for 10fps? Nah, sorry that don´t make sense in my opinion. Also a X4 is a REAL Quad, Intel only offers fake Quad´s (till Nehalem).
    I choose to support AMD cuse it is the only enemy from Intel right now, without AMD, Intel will thump up the prices to unpayable...
    Also I NEVER had prob´s with AMD.

    That is really S**t ! You can but Intel E8500 (which is really cheaper than a Phenom 9950) and a P35 board and then see the performance! AMD fool directors bring a high-end QX9650 to say that AMD is $900 cheaper than that intel! everybody know that a E8500 or Q6600 (both are same price and cheaper than phenom 9950) kick AMD's ass!

    I totally agree with this. I've been using AMD systems for years and I can't complain at all. It has great performance and it's way cheaper than Intel.
    And you know what? Even if I were rich I wouldn't buy an Intel system because (in my opinion) AMD is better than Intel for gaming. And I don't need super speed or super performance for everything else. I don't care if my O.S. starts in 15 seconds or 20, I don't care if my programs start in 1.5 seconds or 3. Know what mean? ;)
