in fact, they trained the georgians as early as July 27.

in august those same soldiers fought in the war. they've been there all along and may have led georgia to believe that they'd come to aid georgia if Russia got involoved. Inspiring georgia to invade.

in fact, the Georgians DID fire rockets at S. Ossetia, at Tskhinvali, It was their first action in the war.

the Russians most likely used them on roadways when the georgian army began their retreat. There is video of a Russian Su-25 using rocket pods on a strafe in georgia. although these are rather accurate, it is likely that cluster weaponry was also used. However, the Russians' primary targets were roadways and military installations. UNLIKE the georgian initial assault.
