It was a thruster firing that hit 3 pieces of ice. @ 4:01 you can see that the first 2 pieces were affected, and then another that was very close to the ship was blasted out into space.

There is a neat video on the supposed alien interview video, though the kool part or what made it seem real to me, they are talking about wepons, the general guy is using a translator who is sensitive as the aliens dont speak. So the general guy is getting upset as he's asking the alien to reveal speacial wepons, or time travel or something of a technology hint or what have you, the alien replies, when will you understand that it is not technology, or anything you can hold, its spirtiuality.
