the mazdaspeed 3 makes more power than its competitors with the same size engine by uping the boost to 15.5 psi, its slow until the turbo kicks in around 3100rpm, gotta keep it between 3100-5500 in order for it to be a fast car.

i meant the mr2 MKII after 16 years can keep up with cars today and out perform many cars also

Iam not a fan of the mk3 but i have also been in a mazda 3 and have seen mazdaspeed 3 perform and I will give it its props and personally it being a 16 year old vehicle I dont think its bad at all and a 16 year old car can still nearly keep up with it on top of that the MK2 3sgte engine can SAFELY handle up to 400+ horsepower leaving the engine plenty of room to improve.

I honestly don't mean any offense by this but I happen to have an mr2 mk3 amongst my cars. I hate the mr2, they are sh*t. Check the 0-60 times, the mps whoops it (7.7 secs for the mr2 but 5.9 for the mazda. Plus they are different types of cars, the mr2 is a 2 seater rwd convertable with no bootspace that looks incredibly camp with great big blushing eye headlights. If we were talking about the mx5 then there would be a comparison (but to be fair not favourably to toyota).

Turbo lag was fun? Many car makers try to make anti-turbo lag... Subaru has made one on their concept model... They say anti-turbo lag was dangerous, it could heats up the engine so fast.

I guess that goes for the Fiero too ;)

The cobalt S**ks , no fun to drive and most uncomfortable seats ever. Mazdaspeed 3 is phenomenal, the turbo lag is so much fun, get new tires if your gonna drive it in the snow though.

Hmmm lets see RWD mid engine car vs FWD front engine car hmmmm..... last time i checked the BEST handling cars in the world were rear wheel drive mid engine cars. To be honest with ya it isn't fair to compare the 2 cars since they are 2 different classes and just because the mr2 has been out of production doesent mean that the car was a POS.

Yeah, but the best acceleration time of the 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo model is 5.7. There is a guy on YouTube that got the time of the MS3 at 5.5 seconds at 0-60. To an average driver, that really doesn't seem like a difference at all, but I'm just saying. Besides, I bet the 2008 turbo Cobalt will be 26k+ atleast.

I always felt that without this active engine torque managenent, you could pontentionaly get a faster launch and thus 0-60 times. Hopefully someone will make a module.
