Land Rover has introduced its latest 'green' technology during a London test drive of the Halewood-built Freelander 2 'stop-start' model.
The top-selling 4x4 incorporates a new system that kills the engine while the vehicle is at a standstill in urban traffic and sparks back into life after touching the clutch, saving up to 18% on fuel consumption, which will cut harmful CO2 emissions by 8%.

    the speed of the restart is very slow on the landrover.

    mazda just introduced the i-stop which is faster than all the competitors by half. mazda is the fastest followed by bmw and then land rover.

    i agree with the citys thing but suly because it takes more fuel to stert an engine than keep it going it would be less ecernomic anyway and howabout when the car is 10 years old and the car doesent start too well it lwould be like this

    that would realy anoy me. all it doin is turning engine off and startin it again.

    and if u wanna improve econemy then don't switch the engine off unless ur gonna wait more than 60 seconds.

    besides landrovers should never be used for wok in citys
