Understood. I didn't even think about an actual theater audience responding to their performances. That makes perfect sense now, thanks.

Romadona11, your comment was bs but, that's your opinion. I am a loyal Buster fan, he was way more creative and daring than Chaplin any day of the week.
By kelasher [Affiliate User] 1216512149 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhy is there no laughter for such a long time in this video? Is this a choice by Chaplin? I think it's brilliant but, would have been more effective with an audience reacting to that kind of brilliance. Has anyone else thought of that?

By romadona11 [Affiliate User] 1214575045 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI agree!
Perhaps Buster would've done it. I just think Chaplin was very clear on his direction ... even if he didn't know where he was going as it were.
Actually, Chaplin could have made this film centered around him entirely through editing and things but let Keaton have the spotlight for this one.
By LedZepFan70 [Affiliate User] 1214183533 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehi bubbajimmy8 :) Orson Wells cosidered Keaton as one of the greates directors ever,he also claimed chaplin removed some of the scenes in this movie because he was jealous to keaton and in those scenes keaton was far better that chaplin,...thats what Wells say. :P...btw oscar S**ks !!!
