  • It's so ridicilous ...

It's so ridicilous how foolish this idiot is acting with the TR and the TB. None of these can produce sampled sounds.

  • Listen to the ...

Listen to the audience reaction when Stevie is revealed- suddenly it's nolonger about the synths, as he could have been buying his groceries for all they cared. Only a special few have that kind of charisma in this world.

there is obviously alot of presequenced and recorded stuff in this performance.. but there is still some live performance in place.. mainly some of the vocoder (often with a backing track) and the lead kb's herbie jumps on a few times.

    anyways.. this ain't very controversial

  • not sure what the " ...

not sure what the "big" controversy is, these guys probably had 2-3 hours to rehearse for the Grammys. Everyone uses some pre-recorded background. What I love about this video is all the memories it brings back to my high school years and how much I enjoyed 80's music.

  • I remember there ...

I remember there was an interview with the director of this segment saying how they were really struggling with getting the track recorded in the studio the previous night...

oh and I think the problem was that Howard Jones was a last minute replacement for someone else and they shoe horned his music in..

Anyone who for one moment desn't believe that this is not a prerecorded piece has no concept of the technical level at which these individuals function. Besides that, I would never question the word of any of them. Some folks just don't recognize integrity when they see it.

I Think it`s a Roland AX-something ..but i looked on eebay and there`s an AX1, AX7 and AXIS and i don`t think it`s any of them ..it`d be easier if I could see the other end of it ..it`s not a Probe like Jan Hammer uses or the Korg ..so either a roland or a yamaha that i`ve forgotten about? (used to know ALL this stuff in the 80`s! : ) lol

  • OK. I'm not saying ...

OK. I'm not saying that he doesn't know how to use a synthisyzer (spl?) but he is not someone that I consider as a man to create synthetic music, such as, Vangelis or Jean Michelle Jarre. Or even Keith Emerson or Todd Rundgren. Yes Stevie is talented but I have not thought of him as part of the synth genre.
