STORY: The AI Drictelt decided to train me at the Pfhor Arena. Wonder if I can put this rifle to good use....

INFO: The first level of a custom scenario for the game "Marathon Infinity."

The Marathon Trilogy was made by the company Bungie , from 1994-1996. It was made primarily for Macintosh. After Bungie broke away from Apple in 1996(?), they released the source code for the second game in the trilogy. Third-party groups used the source code to make realistic versions of the other 2 games. One emulator was called "Aleph One" and is one of the best-known Marathon emulators of today. People began making custom scenarios with a different storyline/gameplay feel than the others. Among these are Marathon RED, Marathon EVIL, and Marathon: Rubicon (aka RubiconX). Lesser-known scenarios are also played, such as the one shown in this video. Kill Them All was made by Simplici7y users Drictelt, shadowbreaker, screamingfool, RyokoTK, and hangar96. The point of this scenario is to kill everything in the level except your allies (only on specified levels). Sort of like Doom. However, the original Marathon games had a bit more events than that, for example, in one level [of the original Marathon games] you would need to plant two access chips in different parts of the level then move on.

  • I'm assuming that ...

I'm assuming that by "smoothness" that your talking about frames per second. Running on a good computer you get the same smoothness in Wolfenstein that you get in Doom 3. 30 FPS is about as smooth anything needs to be.

    Actually yes :P

Why do you ask? The smoothness of the games in between M1 and Halo? Compare the smoothness of games like Unreal to Marathon, and you'll see that they're pretty much the same, believe it or not.

Tell me this, how long did it take to make HALO 3?

Because it would take much more than that to redesign the entire game from scratch.

  • Yeah. The graphics ...

Yeah. The graphics were pretty win at the time this was released, much better than Wolfenstein and DOOM graphics. They were okay too, but Marathon passed a level of smoothness that was not broken until Halo came out.

Wrong. He was weakened by friendly fire before I even saw him. The problem with enemy-ridden maps is that its easy for one unit to attack another, which causes weakening and makes the game easier for Normal noobs like me.
