Showcase Division 2005 US Open Swing Dance Championships

agree 100% variety keeps everything interesting. I much prefer the Swing dances it is about 2 people dancing together. Even competition Lindy/Bal/Shag has the focus on the partner 1st & audience/judges 2nd. This (though impressive) is primarily at the judges and suffers through its obvious choreography. Frequent posing, Kick Ball Changes and complex moves performed without even looking at each other show there is no lead and follow just choregraphy (clever but contrived)

apols livetodance30 - didnt mean to imply ballroom is cheesy just that this is cheesy ballroom - actually should have said this is cheesy latin ballroom influenced WCS. (again not implying that all latin ballroom is cheesy). Beautifully choregraphed and danced by 2 very talented dancers. This is clevery stuff but it is much more Latin styled than Swing (Lindy / Balboa / Shag / Charleston)

ACTUALLY. Not of that is true what you just said. If your really a dancer then you'll know that you are SUPPOSE to be smiling at the crowd during performance.

I'm sorry, hamnotspam44, but there's nothing ballroom about this performance. I'm a ballroom dancer so I should know. Perhaps you can take issue with the Showcase Division of WCS as not being WCS-enough, and you might have a point there, but please don't disparage ballroom in the process.

I have to vehemently disagree with you foamulator. There is an absolute distinct differnce between East Coast Swing and WCS. I agree that East coast swing (and jive, and lindy, etc.) is about sharpness, but WCS has always been about lazy, easy, smoothness. That's what makes that dance soulful, different from the other swing styles, and fun to watch...

umm ya they r good at it, but there is no heart in wat they do, and they focus to much on smiling and facing the crowd. its too "show". the fake smiles and the lack of attention to each other ruin the whole thing. they r in it for the money and fame, not because they love to dance. and u can see it in their faces.
