very true...
I do C. W. Tae Kwon Do and it was my biggest challenge of my life to get the opportunity to test for black belt, for very good reason. Our dojang pracitces both Tae Kwon Do and MMA/wrestling, and we can only get the black belt when we know the techniques, can apply them, and can teach them perfectly.
It's sad to see what most of the world thinks of TKD.
well i must say a person who is a fighter will alway win against a non fighter but some of the others are more brutal then tae kwon do
By bigboss8675309 [Affiliate User] 1217349227 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI once believe that TKD is just a show not effective in fighting or in self defense until i witness a 5'4" woman TKD practitioner who took down a 5'10" huge guy who attempted to rob her. By throwing series of kicks to his kness, belly and arms, the robber ended laying on the ground. Fighting is not confined only in MMA arena and is not the only place to judge the effectiveness of any martial arts style. It depends on how you learn to use it.

Just go into a branch schools thats registered with the main school and you'll probably have one kick ass teacher

By valgrot [Affiliate User] 1216180236 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethanks so much for this video now i have finally understood and learnt how to do a proper back kick. i realised that by imagining ur kicking foot as a rock and throwing it out at a target along with twisting hip movement and explosive thigh power can increase accuracy and force
By dragowooo [Affiliate User] 1213287264 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAnd please don't take offense at what I'm writing,I'm just being brutally honest, the primary problem with TKD is not the fact there is a Dojang on every corner in most U.S. cities, more power to them, the primary problem is the willingness to give away rank,ie belt factories, and when you cut corners in training to rank people faster, the end result are sloppy practitioners and later on Dojang being run by those practitioners and the cycle will repeat its self.this is true in a majority of Dojang.
By Sochinsensei [Affiliate User] 1212944152 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeactually, thats not entirely right.you cannot really condemn the art so much as the majority of the practitioners who practice the art in question, often times for most skeptics they base their opinion/assumptions on how they have seen the art represented,TKD for example is a good art when practiced the way the General had intended, although in the TKD community there are some really good practitioners, but the key word is some,a vast majority of TKD practitioners are really bad.

Horrible sound quality...
By n14e5o15 [Affiliate User] 1212526212 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI agree. UFC president himself called Bruce Lee the father of MMA (probably because of JKD) and Bruce Lee himself said to take what is best from each art and make your own style.I do notash any art -- in fact, I am currently 1st dan black belt -- I think that what Bruce Lee believed is true. Anything that helps to defend yourself is good, and don't restrict yourself to one art.
That being said, to learn how to kick well, TKD is one of the best arts to learn from and add to your arsenal.
i agree with you there,i have just started to take Taekwondo lesson and im not learning it for self defence its a sports and its got style :)
