reba isn't from new orleans....she's from mcalester, oklahoma...my hometown. my mom went to school with her and this song has nothing to do with her life...it's just a song

i think it may have been when the welfare people got the baby, the baby may have died and they brought it back and buried it. just saying.

ok ive had a question. in the song it said. "The welfare people came and took the baby Mama died and I ain't been back"
but near the end of the video it shows two graves one for mama and one for the baby. i dont understand that. was it just a mistake they made while producing the video?

I would have given the daughter the kid and given her the money and let them go off so that the poor baby boy wouldnt die

But the wheels of fate started 2 turn and for me there waz no way out. it wazn't very long till i new wat my momma been talkin about. i new wat i had 2 do and i made myself this song about, iz gonna b a lady though i didn't no wen or how. but i couldnt keep livin my life w/ my head hung down n shame. i may of been born just plain white trask, but fancy waz my name!

I don't believe the mother got anything out of it. She was only trying to get her daughter to a better standard of living, with the only options she had available. The video shows the circumstances, and well it's the only choice she had. Yes it was prostitution, but I don't believe it was to benefit the mom at all. It was either let her die with me, or give her what I can. She chose the latter of the two.
