it's true that rugby players, on average, are probably better conditioned because they're moving around all the time w/ fewer breaks. but to say that they're 'tougher' or take harder hits probably isn't accurate. In (American) football, you have much bigger players for the most part, and more full speed, head-on collisions... and often times, the recipient of the hit doesn't even see it coming and/or is up in the air or in a very vulnerable position when they take the shot.

Take a look and the video "Lewsey tackle on De Villiers" tell me what you thimk of that one while you're there look at "huge rugby wipe outs" It would also be an idea to use different insults for different people, Repetition can get boring

I know I have never doubted the size or strength but tackling styles are completley different for one. My whole entire point was that union and leauge players run all game, offence and defence and every time they get knocked down the get the F**k back up and don't carry on about it. Union and Leauge requires a large amount of skill, not sayimg american football doesn't but it may help if you want to comment to watch a game or two or better yet have played all three....like me.

dude there P***ys they have to wear massive shoulder pads and plastich helmets. league and rugby players only wear about 1cm of foam for protection. all these guys do is make about 3 tacles a quarter and go off for about 10 minutes and to rest league players go off for about a minute or less and make about 30 to 40 tackles a game (depends wat position there in).

Rugby is the most grooling sport in the world but if the majority of linebackers in american football whent toe and toe with just about any rugby player from anywere the linebackers would probably break the rugby player's knee caps... think about it. Average pro linebackers are around 250 pounds in weight when the average rugby player is at around 185 pounds. And the strength difference isnt even close to compareable.

I played rugby in college, no doubt you have to be tough. But you put these college and professional football(American) players on the pitch and they'd RUN ALL OVER BLOKES. I played both, I respect both, but come on, be realistic, football players play it b/c that's where the money's at, not b/c they're afraid of getting hit.
