Africa's most feared snake, the notorious Black Mamba is not the mindless killer as portrait in the media. The snake is just as vulnerable to its environment like any other animal.

  • Sure, I could go on ...

Sure, I could go on and film some animal wrangler chasing and provoking the snake like one can see on countless TV shows ... That's not for me. I try to reflect on possible behavior of the animal under extreme situations. You're right about the rodent burrows, but I never mentioned it to be such ... A drowning Black Mamba is certainly not an every day occurrence but still it could and did happen.

  • First of all, nice ...

First of all, nice work on filming. But the "burrow" is a set up in some kind of studio. I don't see why it was necessary to show a mamba drowning. Since actual rodent burrows would have multiple entrances and exits, I don't think this happens on a common basis.

  • It's just a ...

It's just a dramatized take on the reptile's vulnerability. indeed, the snake is still alive! How many times did Robert De Niro "die" in the movies?

  • It would be next to ...

It would be next to impossible to rig a Mamba for filming without hurting or even killing the snake. It simply would defeat the purpose of documenting the animal's behavior.
