A lot can be learned from theses instances and its good that at the end it was recognised that despites some mistakes made by the crew, they landed it and the plane was well designed to design extreme pressure. Shame about the posters elsewhere on this who have no doubt never left their sofa let alone flown a plane, criticising the crew who aren't from the same country as them. This incident has helped new planes safer.

So..what's your analysis? Actually he's perfectly correct. This was a very poor crew. Standard procedure is to re-trim the aircraft if an engine fails, it's a priority.

Very poor crew. Hard to believe they didn't re-trim the aircraft as soon as engine 4 failed. And after regaining control they were debating whether to declare an emergency and land immediately! Unbelieveable.

You mustn't assume everyone who questions you knows less than you do. I know, for example, that faced with a similar situation you would most likely wet yourself and start bawling like a little girl.

Wrong dickhead. This should be routine procedure. An engine fails, re-trim the aircraft. And after a freefall in a 747, with passengers who may well be injured, land at the first opportunity, don't attempt to operate to schedule when you don't even know what caused the loss of control.
