60's Commercials

Groovy - I was born in 1963 and I also miss the 60s, it was a different time and after 1979, things just went down hill.

Nah, I wish I could remeber things from the '60's. be grateful you got to be alive then. I would do anything to have been born then or a little before. I envy my parents. Ha!

Commercials: show man his desires, invent new desires, and fulfill these desires with products. look around at our world and our society... this is the outcome.

In a way, it's kind of interesting, because the commercial makers were assuming (probably correctly) that the viewership knew that the phrase was meant wittily and figuratively, obviously alluding to the JAMES BOND stories... Nowadays, people would take it literally, which is perhaps even more soft-headed.

That's right. She was only 35 when she died from an apparent suicide by barbituate overdose--less than ten years after the commercial shown here.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones since I was born in 1963...I think a lot of things have progressed since then, but I also think there's a gentleness and an absence of cynicism these commercials show of that time that is something I miss.
