Im all for being a pretentious music geek, but though there is a slight tonal quality that is similar to the Cranes track, thats kind of a stretch. For that matter, one could say the vocals owe some nods to Lush or Swallow as well. It has its routes in Loveless for sure, but it seems more inspired by than watered down.

let it be noted, nobody is ever allowed to use a whammy bar from now forth, because cranes did it once already. and anyone from now on who ever uses a whammy is required to give all credit to this obscure band.
seriously, that's the only similarity, and it's less than weak, at best.

The similarity between this song and The Cranes 'Beautiful Friend' creeps me out. I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery...

Wow. It's great they're finally getting recognition but also a little sad. They now have 6 albums. I remember seeing them at the Black Cat in Wash. DC over 5 years ago and most people had no idea who they were let alone how amazingly unique they are. Blonde Redhead stands alone.

The appeal of this is trying to close your eyes and absorb the words, atmospheric elements, the beat, and appreciate all forms of music not just Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake. Not to say that all indie music is fabulous but if you listen to different kinds of music repeatedly you'll start to capture its magic.
