Well that was just a big ball of C**k and roll. Fantastic you play guitar. That was like standing in any local guitar store with some has been showing off how out dated he really is. F**king boring.

  • and I clearly said ...

and I clearly said that I was listing the greatest ROCK artists. Also, everyone does covers at some time or another so you can't base your opinions on whether they write their own songs. All of these guys have a very distinctive sound and style if you know anything about their music. Much of rock sounds similar so its not unusual that it would seem like they are unoriginal and unimaginative. Also, what would rock be like w/o people like hendrix and evh. they changed rock forever.

ok i have 3 van halen albums, so i will admit that i havent heard everything of his, but im in two bands and majoring in music theory, so yes i actually know a lot about music. Does it matter if they have anything on the radio? 50 cent is on the radio, dooes that make him good? mozart isnt on the radio, does that mean hes bad? on my first comment, i said give him credit for his innovation. I'm not saying he's bad, he's a great guitarist, and an even better innovator, but he isnt the best ever.

  • no i clearly said ...

no i clearly said hes not one of the best ever. none of us specified it was just rock guitarists, i said overall and you made a list. Picking the best rock guitarists is like picking the smartest guy in a third grade class...I have listened to both a lot. The same chord progressions and pentatonic soloing. think of how many covers srv did of hendrix and other blues "classics"

  • from your previous ...

from your previous post its easy to tell you know nothing about Eddie Van Halen or music for that matter. Yes those guys are good but how many songs do they have on the Radio. Also without Eddie those guys wouldnt do the things they do.

anyone who criticizes Eddie is a morron. This man came up with compressed sounds never heard before licks never seen before who gives a F**k if its an easy scale the originality of this guy blows them all away except Hendrix of course

  • perhaps you would ...

perhaps you would like to take a look at the title of the vid that you are posting comments on. VAN HALEN = ROCK dumbass! I'm listing ROCK guitarists, not the beethovens of guitar lol. Granted these guys use somewhat simple bases for their songs, but they know how to put a great compilation together that goes to the merry tune of rock, hence why I have listed only ROCK guitarists. Also, you need to listen to more hendrix and SRV because no way in hell are they "basically the same". Tsk tsk tsk

  • are you aware that ...

are you aware that your first two are basically the same? no theory or technique whatsover with knowledge of one scale. all their solos are the same. they use the easiest scale there is(pentatonic). slash and hammet are just a heavier version of them wanking with the pentatonic. Brian may is cool, but no way is he one of the best, hes a better songwriter then guitarist. look at my list below for a more accurate list of the best guitarists.

  • no hes not even ...

no hes not even close.eric johnson, jason becker, shawn lane, john petrucci, steve vai, frank gambale, allan holdsworth, mario parga paul gilbert, steve morse are 10 guitarists that come to mind right away. look into their music if you want to hear a true guitar virtuoso, not a decent rock guitarist.
