Steam makes low demands on technology. The Romans could have developed steam power. They had every element of it - plumbing, hot water, metalwork, piping, engineering. But they also had something else in abundance that made steam power unnecessary: slaves. I can't help wondering how things would have worked out if some Roman engineer had got off his duff, and prototyped a steam chariot. It's a source of considerable frustration to me. The industrial revolution would have happened 2000 years earlier, and in Rome instead of Manchester. If the Romans had developed steam, today we'd all be travelling in flying cars, instructing our robot maids by video phone. In Latin.

The Citation X actually burns alot more than that, but I was lazy and didn't want to get too involved in a calculation whose purpose was purely to make a point, but if you'd like, I could go back and get all the numbers, or I could call the pilot, and tell you precisely how much fuel a citation X burns on that flight.

You have too build more coal plants for more electricity, or build more damns. We have to exploit the earth someway.

car like the Volkswagen or the Honda..and use solar panels to charge it..see also Tesla Roadster..no more pollution and FREE ENERGY!!
There cars were great! Just add the lithium-ion batteries and you have 21st Century technology. It was only ten years ago. There were also solar charge station around the state. When republicans ended the zero emission law the cars were scrapped. Bush again!!!!

P.S. search pogue carburators dont believe the hoax S**t they are real you can get the blueprints and build one yourself.check the patent office.

By mexa11 [Affiliate User] 1191066327 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTom Hanks owns a share in a fractional ownership company. Tom Hanks rides in a Cessna Citation X from New York to Los Angeles all by himself. In that one flight, he burns well over 12000 lbs of fuel. I know this because I am very good friends with one of the pilots that works for that company and once flew Tom Hanks from New York to L.A.

By HorrizonFord [Affiliate User] 1189860450 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLithium-Polymer and Lithium Manganese cells now only take 10-15-minutes to fully recharge, and they have the same range as a petrol-car, and great motor-controllers like the GODZILLA, have made electric cars have even better performance than the old I.C.
Lithiums are environmentally safe as well!
He's talking about 20th-century technology. Today, in the 21st-century, brushless-induction-motors, and 350-mile ranges, with only ten-minute charge times, like in the ZAP-X, from Zap and LOTUS have obviated the need for Internal-Combustion. I.C. is SO dead, in 2007! Zero-60 in FOUR SECONDS. Zero maintenance.

By ChaosOfDiscordia [Affiliate User] 1188118883 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFirst, coal fired power plants are more efficient energy-generators than the equivalent number of gas powered cars because of their size and dynamics. Second, a lot of energy is currently wasted at night when no one is using it , so the cars could act as a buffer, redistributing energy to when it's needed.
Third, 80% of all the cars in the US can be replaced with electric vehicles before they need to build another power-plant. ev1 dot org/pvevfact.htm
