  • You not thinking ...

You not thinking the whole picture, you going to need $27,000 not just $25,000.

According to my stock market expert friend, there are chance that you going to need even more money just to float and anchor til you get a hot stock to daytrade on.

Last week, we are having those gas price problem and it killing the stock market creating a huge momentum where it too expensive to daytrade.

    90% lose. 10% earn.

    so be in the 10%.

Day Trading is NOT gambling. You can't control dice but you CAN control your trades, you can manage risk.

  • Eye82: Bear stearns ...

Eye82: Bear stearns was OK, said their CEO and even Jim Cramer, who is just a great entertainer but awfully inconsistant.
Recently, GE, whos good earning were "in the bag" one month prior, according to their CEO, suddenly had some mysterious deterioration of their fundamentals. Can you name many other examples? I am sure that you can. What do fundamentals mean when they being to sour?

A day trader goes home flat EVERY day, to avoid the gap downs AH. NO '87 OR 2000 CRASHES. IT WOULD NOT BE.

  • These studies have ...

These studies have been written by dumb academics that do not have a clue what trading is about.

If they were able making money with the classic financial theory they teach, why would they be teaching and not making money in the market? THINK!

I have considered that, however I am a few semesters from grad. and I like college life enough for the social aspects of it. Bottom line is daytrading is profitable to those who actually use proper discipline and money management.

  • @jar587: sounds ...

@jar587: sounds great. i just wonder, why do you still go to college then? it seems youve found the secret to getting rich. lets say you make $375/day on average. thats $7,500/month...not bad...if day trading is oh so profitable and you guys seem to be real winners, stay at home and forget college cos your opportunity costs are way to high...ever thought of that?

  • forget the studies ...

forget the studies pal..buy and hold is a ridiculous strategy that academics push because theyre clueless about anything outside of a textbook..

I KNOW because I am a college student that daytrades the futures by morning and I consistently make $250-$500 a day before I even go to class. Take your skepticism elsewhere.

  • If you can make ...

If you can make $500-$1000 a day...

    If you subract weekends, thats
$130,000 a year for $500, $260,000 for $1000. How could you consistently produce those returns in buy and hold strategy. Even if you have $100,000, to invest, how many portfolios double every year? None.

Also how many jobs can you quit and come back to whenever you want based on your financial needs. Its also a job that you can do well past normal retirement age.

  • many studies showed ...

many studies showed that day trading doesnt make you more money than a simple buy and hold strategy. on the contrary, if you include transaction costs your performance will be worse...there is nothing like easy money. dont believe such promises.just buy some stocks which have the right fundamentals and leave them in your account. always look at the long run performance of such day traders. i can tell you only a few can show actual profits
