Great information presented simply and concisely. If you don't start with the proper grip, stance and ball position, then how can you expect anything else to go right from there? Most golfers suffer from simple flaws and bad habits in these areas that are the easiest to correct and check - before play.

That was an excellent description of the stance. I am not the best golfer in the world, but from what I have discovered about a solid set up...you have touched on the most important points. Other slight variations do come with personal swings

he changed my grip and i have to get used to it but he says my motion is pretty good. It's sort of hard to hit the ball well. I'm hitting the ball of the hozzle of the club. next lesson is probably monday or tuesday

So how did your lesson go?

If you walk into any proshop and ask the golf pro how important the correct golf grip, they will basically tell you that it's impossible to have a solid swing without having the correct grip first. Tiger Woods calls the grip the cornerstone of the swing. The design of the V with the question mark index finger is essential to control the club properly throughout the swing.

does the grip matter that much?....i mean that "V" you are supposed to make with your right hand?

It depends on the nature of the fix required and whether you can continue swinging basically the same way you are already. If the pro changes anything more major like your swing plane, it takes more time. If its a matter of correct position, a grip adjustment or minor issues, yes, you could see immediate improvement since you only slice with your driver.

MY ACCURACY WILL IMPROVE RIGHT AWAY?

The reason I took my first lesson was to improve consistency and scoring ability which obviously covers accuracy. When you can't hit as far, your accuracy improves immediately because you can't hit far enough to hit into someone's backyard anymore ;-)But seriously, a month of hard work started to pay off for me; hitting into a net at home and at the driving range at the course etc. It takes time for new instruction tips which feel completely un-natural to start to feel natural.
