  • Do you know the FAA ...

Do you know the FAA Inspectors Handbook, which is what applies to aerial demonstrations as is the case here? And I happen to have 2 helicopters certified for aerobatics, and NO you don't have to wear parachutes in helicopters doing acro; the FAA isn't that stupid. Call up you FSDO, ask for a waiver to go acro and ask if you need to wear a parachute in a helicopter. They will laugh at you. Fewer people have flown helicopters aerobatic than have gone into space; I don't think you are one of them.

  • Again, ppl think ...

Again, ppl think they know what they are talking about. Do you know what FAR's are Sarge? According to FAR's anything in excess of 60 degrees of bank or 30 degrees of pitch is considered aerobatic and require parachutes to be worn by all occupants unless the manuever is incidental to training requirements.... such as spins for Flight Instructor certification.

  • Wrong, it has to ...

Wrong, it has to exceed 90deg. not 60. Just about everyone in helicopters exceeds 60, no big deal, but turning in inverted... that's another thing.

  • positive G is what ...

positive G is what you feel going up in an elevator or roller coaster, and negative G is what you feel going down (lightness). Most helicopters (and aircraft) do not handle negative G stress very well. Google search to learn more.

  • sgtfury says: "real ...

sgtfury says: "real, just not aerobatic". * Actually aerobatics is defined soley by how many degrees an aircraft pitches up/down or from side to side in a particular maneuver... and per those standards, this IS very much so aerobatics! An angle of bank over 60 deg. is aerobatics by the way ;)

  • Not a fake. The ...

Not a fake. The pilot was Charley Zimmermann of the German air force. The BO-105 is one of the only helicopters capable of full on aerobatics due to its rigid rotor head. Because of this design, it can handle negative g-loads,which would destroy any other type of helo.
