  • FIXIT YOU ARE AN IDIOT

You just can't see that when you open your mouth, you can't help but make everyone think you are a brainless fool those were your words fixit and thats exactly what i was thinking everytime i read your post this isnt a sexist or racest vid if you look up car crashes on any video site 90% of the ones that you can see the driver the driver is male and out of those 90% are white and thats what these producers did they took vid clips from all over the net and made this video. and if you were right about if they were all female then yea there would be a lot more idiots like you complaining and not getting the right message, the points not whos driving its how people drive and to STAY ALERT AND DRIVE SAFE i hope your not old enough to drive yet fixit from reading your post id say your about 14 EVERYONE FLAG FIXIT POST WITH A THUMBS DOWN hes violating the terms it says it right under the comment box "no racist or defamatory statements"

  • Safety Video

I am a bus driver at a major transportation company in washington state, I would really appreciate the use of this video for our safety training program, as it really shines the light on the fact that you should never get behind the wheel without being able to fully understand the simple fact that you are driving a motor vehicle capable of causing great harm and or death. If you do not pay full attention behind the wheel, and you do not look ahead, around and behind your vehicle every few seconds, you are not getting the big picture and you may be the cause of what you just viewed in this very important video. Acting scenes or not, it got peoples attention, enuf said! thank you for sharing this with all of us!

  • Coulda been done a lot better

Not to diminish the message, but with all the obvious real footage they had, why stage so many of the accidents? Would've been a lot more powerful if they hadn't included the ones with the actors. Pulls you out of the reality too much.

    • You need a face attached to the death

or it loses it's power. If you've ever watched Schindler's List, you should remember the scene with the little girl in the red coat. Early in the black and white film the show a cute little Jewish girl in an anomolously colored coat. Later you see her dead body amongst many dead bodies still in black and white. Until you make the suferer a real individual, there is not as much power in the death. You can read the obituaries all day and not be affected but read one for a neighbor that you saw playing with his kids in the yard (even if you didn't know him) and it will get to you.

  • Some Facts About This Video

Of the long videos - 9 of them are from commercial campaigns put out by the TAC (Traffic Accident Commission) in Australia. The montage would be 80% from this same authority.
At various times these campaigns have targeted road rage, recklessness, speeding, drink driving, talking on the phone while driving, driving under the influence of drugs, etc. Ads addressing some of those issues are included in the montage but the editing doesn't show it.
A lot of the main clips used in this video date back to around the 20 year mark. In Australia there weren't as many women driving then and whenever you would get a family in the car it would always be the man driving. Pretty much as it is today in this country. The montage is a combination of new and old ads.
A new campaign is launched every few years and the more recent ones feature a lot more women drivers. Those ones however, do not serve the purpose of the maker's message.
I believe that the maker of this video has tried to give a different focus here. We are all aware of the dangers of alcohol, drugs and other factors. He/she has tried to show how easy it is to be distracted, get a bit impatient or just not think of general safety when driving. He/she has tried to show that everyday people can cause catastrophic events by seemingly minor actions.
I hope that this will put all the arguments to rest and you can now watch the video and get the message that was intended.

    • Proof of Origin

Apologies. I underestimated the amount of Australian content in this video. It is higher than I stated.
To see all of the TAC campaigns dating back to 1989 search Road Safety Victoria - Transport Accident Commission and go to Campaigns. Apologies but this site will not allow me to post the link for you. Don't miss all the ones at the bottom.

  • So sad on many fronts. . . .

I see the guys so worried about what our subconcious might be telling us about the 'evil white men' in this clip. I feel sorry that this is what is focused on . Did anyone notice that a few of the injuries could have been prevented by seatbelts? The infant was held by the mother instead of putting him/her in the carseat right next to the mom. Dad just smiles, and starts driving even though he himself could have insisted on the carseat and refused to go until it was utilized. Does that mean that the message is supposed to be that all parents with infants are negligent?? I do not think so. In on of the shots, it shows a child sitting in the back of a hatchback also not in a seat, or seatbelt. A large ammount of the 'real' ones show that pedestrians and innocent bystanders are often injured just because of wrong place/wrong time. My first car accident was when I was 26yrs old. I was distracted by worries of running late, rain, and missing my turn. Thank GOD no one was injured. Both of my kids, then 8 and 6 were in the vehicle. I have had only one other accident since then, two years later and that was due to a drunk driver blowing a 0.24 BAC. He didn't even know what happened. I was lucky to walk away with only permanant damage to both knees. This clip may show male actors as the agressors, but quite honestly I did not notice until I read the comments and watched again. My focus was on the actual behavior of the drivers, and the sadness of all of the damage to all of the survivors - wheather it was their fault or not.

    • I agree

I didn't notice the gender or skin color of the people involved, just the actions and how many could have been avoided by simple safety measures or by taking a deep breath, relaxing, and focusing on driving.

I have a dear friend who is currently recovering in the hospital from being hit by a truck while riding his bicycle. He was not wearing a helmet and failed to stop at a stop sign, the truck driver had no way of stopping in time. We all have to be aware, whether we are driving, riding bicycles, walking, or whatever. Too many deaths and injuries can be prevented by just slowing down and looking.

  • Simple message!

I would just like to put across a very simple message. God forbid, anything even close to this happens to us or anyone for that matter. But if it does and someone ends up losing their life for a mistake you have done because of 'YOU' not driving carefully! Do you think you can ever forgive yourself for it??? Do you think the guilt will ever let go of you till you die??

Please be careful while driving. You have no right to endanger the lives of others or yourselves just because you are running late for something and you to make it on time or for that matter for the thrill of speed or the urge to be living on the edge. God Bless us all and keep us safe!!

  • Just my thoughts

As someone who knows first hand how stupid people can be when they drive...my sister died almost 6 yrs ago in a car wreak she was 25 and left behind 4 beautiful children and a husband not to mention all those that loved and cared about her. The acting in this video maybe over the top or unreal or what ever you may think of it but the truth of the matter is there are people out there every day that die in almost the same way. my sister being one of them. no matter what the acting or what you may think about the music or what you may think about the camera angle the one thing you need to stop and think about is the message that it sends. Drive carefully because you may just be hurting or killing someones father, mother, sister, brother, son, daughter or any other family member. think of how you would feel if it was someone you loved and cared about. THINK BEFORE YOU DRIVE!!!!!!

  • get this into perspective

It's a sad fact that although these clips may be old, they are still relevant; I have witnessed the results of a local woman to us assuming that the country lane was clear - it was carnage. This video should be compulsory viewing with questions as part of the driving test. It may be unpleasant to watch but is nothing to the noise, smell and hopelessness of the reality of death or serious injury caused by a moments loss on concentration, or a “just get out of my way” moment

  • wow

sure reminds me of in 1991 when a drunk driver hit my car and i have suffered thru now 29 surgeries to get back to sorta normal again, i now have steel rods in my lower back where the doctors had to remove 5 disk, and i have had 9 arthroscopic knee surgeries and a total right knee replacement, and now i have seizures from it, i will be permanently disabled, in 1991 i was only a few months shy of graduating as an RN in college, and a 16yr old kid hit my car and spun my car completely around slamming both my knees into my dash, and crushing 3 disk in my neck and 4 disk in my lower back where crushed, i am lucky thru all my surgeries i can walk now. i am a single mother with 3 sons, my sons are 9, 11, 21 yrs old now, but back when i had the accident my oldest son was only a few years old thankfully he wasnt in the car with me that day the drunk driver hit me, i was in my car by myself as i was heading back to college in my nursing whites from having done clinicals that day and i was going back to pick up some of my books but i never made it to the college instead a drunk driver hit my car completely devasting my life back then. So please drive safetly everyone please as it doesnt just affect the injured person it affects their whole family. As i would have been a nurse making good money if the accident had not happened now i am a low income single mother on disability barely able to make ends meet .

    • :( to please dont be reticent

reminds me of my daddy. a elderly couple wasnt paying attention and pulled out in front of him. the woman was on her cell phone. my cousin and two brothers were with my dad. the kids were okay, my dad crushed is femer bone, broke his back, collapsed and brusied both lungs and was in the hospital for 6 months.. i was 11 at the time and my yougest sibling was 2. our whole life was turned upside down, but we made it. but now things are just so hard that he cant work . im one of five kids. it bothers me that people are arguing over this video, weather its real or not, it shows what reallly can happen in a blink of an eye, life is too short.

      By Allison93 1283582079
  • please don't be reticent

i lost my son September 2009 he was 17and a half yrs
he was knocked down and killed by a uninsured driver
it has left a void in not only my life but his sister and brothers lives too Let alone the rest of the family he was about to finish his a levels and had passed his driving test first time was insistent on doing his advanced driving and be a responsible driver.
people please when you see this video just slow down and realise that next time it could be or anyone of your family. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO GET WHERE YOUR GOING ON YOUR JOURNEY AND MAKE TIME FOR YOURS AND EVERYBODY ELSE'S LIVES.WE ARE ALL SO LUCKY TO HAVE OUR LIVES SO PLEASE DON'T WASTE THEM OR ANYONE ELSE'S.

could someone tell me how to download this video? If I could show this to my Soldiers and the young students I deal with I think it could have a HUGE impact...

  • Look at the big picture

I have watched this a number of times.....and never once did I even think about "who" was driving until I read the previous comments. I would not have noticed even if it were women. Either way.....this video has a strong message and it SHOULD be shown in Drivers Ed and in the drivers courses you can take when you get a ticket (like in AZ). I'd like to see a new video that does show cell phone & texting scenes as well as road rage and I don't care if it's men or women driving or the color of their skin. The message is loud and clear...Careless drivers KILL people!

    By cowgirl2010 1281804495
    • and another thing....

If you watch the very quick clips at the end..I see a woman at the wheel of two of those. Sorry, but men have a tendency to want to "race" other people and road rage. I had an ex boyfriend who would road rage (hence the reason he is n ex). Earlier this year there was a man driving a dump truck, high on meth and NOT paying attention. He slammed into 8 motorcycles sitting at a red light killing 4 of the riders. Bottom line..take a deep breath before getting angry at someone else and just pay attention.

      By cowgirl2010 1281805725
  • Origin of adverts

Most of the staged clips are from TV adverts shown regularly in Northern Ireland over the years. They aren't racist or sexist they are targeted towards boy racers who in this country are responsible for most fatal accidents. We have many disturbing adverts here, which aren't shown in the rest of the UK unfortunately.

    By Kmcl 1281650581
    • Origin of Adverts

Sorry but you got that wrong. Most of the ads are Australian. Search Road Safety Victoria - Transport Accident Commission and go to Campaigns.

  • Miss the point much?

If you can't shut your mind up long enough to get the point of this video, then you're precisely the type of person that can't shut their mind up long enough to pay attention while you're driving. Think about that one.

  • Can we download this file please ?

This video touches everyone’s heart.. especially the driver’s… u know what I mean!
Many scenes may be staged but we know purpose of this video is to wake us up. Reminding us to be responsible drivers.
Innocent people and loved ones.. you can't undo this mistake! My eyes watery watching this video..

  • Reckless driving

Thank you for this video. We have way too many selfish and reckless drivers among us who all need to see this video and realize that saving a few seconds may cost them a lifetime of anguish, sorrow, and lawsuits. They also need to take a physics course to better understand just how dangerous motorized vehicles can be as weapons of mass destruction.

  • CHILLS & TEARS FOR FEAR...I AM HUMAN

I don't know ANYONE who couldn't possibly be moved in some way by these videos with males or females driving...who gives a rats ass! Human beings with feelings, that's what MOST of us are. Woman are probably moved more so, but come on, everyone in the world should be moved by these important MESSAGE videos. Besides Car insurance is MORE for male 16-25!
These videos are being made for a reason and it's not for propaganda! WAKE UP people and put your damn cell phones away and stop texting as well! AND, if you have to eat that freakin cheeseburger, STOP and eat if before you get back in the car. That, along with stereos that are blasting so loud in your car that you can't hear the ambulance or police cars needing to go through lights!! AND not to forget that people just don't pull over to the right anymore and when they do, the first person to leap out on the road is the guy in the back and almost causes an accident. Come on, seems we are all getting dumber and dumber, and driving faster and faster cars! Sympathy for the reality brother!!

HI my Name is Caitlin and I run a program for first time juvenile traffic offenders called Carteens. I was wondering if I could have your permission to put this video on a C.D and show it in class. I think it would be benifical to the class. It would help reiterate what we say about distractions and safe driving.
    Thank you,

I saw this video on my friend's Facebook page and it simply moved me to tears - especially for those children who were killed as a result of utterly reckless driving. It should be made compulsory viewing as part of the driving test.
Now posted on my own FB page. I urge everybody to share with as many friends as possible.

They used to show something like this in driving classes, called “Hamburger Highway”. I don't think it had much real effect—everyone likes to believe that *they're* not the idiot.

This was linked on a friends FaceBook wall and my 7 yr old saw a bit of this before i realised he'd come up behind me after i clicked it. My "friend" should have added some kind of warning but didnt... The vid should have some kind of warning itself. I now have to deal with my son's now expected nightmares tonight.

-100 points for inadequate warning messages when hotlinking

+100 points for getting the message across.

Anyone insensitive to stuff like this should just be removed from the planet.

Try taking care of your kids before logging on to facebook, it is in fact a site for adults not for children.

      -100 for failing at parenting.

-100 for being responsible for your childs nightmares.

i dont have eyes in the back of my head... i'm a single parent and i live in a very small place. the fact that it was posted BY A PARENT on my fb page WITHOUT revealing it's nature didnt give me cause to ensure my son was told to stay away...

the fact that i spend what little cash i have on food to make sure my son gets fed three square meals a day while i live on one meal a day means i'm a bad parent too i suppose?

the fact that i walk to the shops with a fucked back... buy a shitload of groceries and carry them home in a backpack also makes me a bad parent too i suppose.....

dont judge others unless you KNOW THEM
