    I have never done any martialarts or anything like that, but this helps a bit. If i knew this last time i got mugged i might not have hurt my hand against the robbers face. Sure, i knocked him down, but my hand was swollen for a week. :P I'll try this one next time i get mugged. lol

    I agree that in a real life situation its much more about about much "fight you have in you" rather than how long you have been doing a martial art or whatever, but i still think its real valuable to have been through some sort of self defense training just to give you a bit more confidence in yourself in a fight. If you come across as being calm and controlled and sure of urself, then you are much more intimidating to your opponent and much more comfortable yourself.

    his explanation is perfect... the vertical fist provide less impact and you can break you hand too... and he is not turning his body too much because when you're in a fight, when you throw a jab you hit the oponent before turning that "much", so it does more impact :D

    this is good, when you punch keep your shoulder near your shin that's right only thing is that the punch isn't coming from your arms that right it's coming from your hips and a lil bit of your shoulders
