Don't be silly!! What's the point of motio capture if the actor has to be recorded doing THE SAME THING FIRST?!?! Well, as you saw, it will be possible to make humans look different. Ever seen a movie where someone was wearing a mask or some kind of cgi face? (Pirates of the carribean, watchmen, the hulk, the coneheads) How about getting facial expressions from someone and using this to put George Bushes face over it?

The point is it opens options like having an actors face over a stuntman's body.

this one is only for the demo purposes. they use it mainly for games where they assign the animation driven from this technique to 3D models of virtual characters in the game or the movie. for example Hulk.

She looks like many actresses who have just gone a bit overboard on the botox. We're so used to seeing people whose faces don't move naturally, Photoshopped pictures in magazines, digitally improved movie stars in films, that real people look a lot like animated figures.

i watched it, but never saw the demo. i figured i must have missed something and realized what was going on after i read the "info". i wonder what the advantage is to just using real actors rather than having actors act, then animating them to look real.

I'm not sure if I understand the point of this. If the actor has to be recorded doing something first, and is then "overlayed" with the animation...then what's the point of animating it? Why not just use the real thing?

Thanks for uploading this video - I was impressed by the animation. Knowing in advance that the first part was the CGI, it made me a bit more observant than usual, so you can see a wee bit of difference, but only if you were looking for it.

You realize the whole thing was taken from an actual actress, so that's why the hands move just like yours.
