Paul Potts Finale Performance on Britains Got Talent

I am afraid your information is wrong. He went touring Italy amatuer for few months, spent 9000pounds, he paid for board and Italian lessons, had had some singing lessons, not with Pavarotti. Because he was good he was chosen to sing for Pavarotti, who asked him to sing again because he thought him good. Up to winning the show, Paul was never professional, and he had not sang 4years up to this show, definately not known in opera world.

this guy is great. but he isn't some new uprising talent, he has spend about 18.000 € for singing study (i'm sorry for my bad english, i'm german..) he learned from pavarotti and some others, and he already had a name in the opera world. So he was already a professional when he started, but was unknown for the tv watching audience...
but a great song and a great voice.

Pavarotti? just a possibility. He's got a powerful voice, though.

philskinkins Glad we don't have your knowledge, then we can enjoy Pauls Potts music like we do. If you know all about opera like no other, then you will know how many years of training most people in pro. operas have. Just in months, a little training with Paul has gone along way, go see him in concert 2008, brilliant, emotional and reaches the high notes. Granada the best I have heard, heard them all.

not really that great of a singer, and that comes from someone who really knows what opera and classical music is

I hated opera as a kid.....Give it a try....listen to the true classic's...they will melt your heart...a lot of enjoyment there...Listen to: Mario Lanza - "Lament di Frederico", Placido Domingo's "M'appari tutt amore", Fritz Wunderlich's "Granada"....
