China Airlines Flight 642 crashed when landing in Hong Kong during terrible weather (tropical storm winds and rain). Very little footage exists of the crash, so I added a few photos in to show the aftermath.
I am very new to video editing (this is my first project), and as such the film is very basic and straightforward. I used Windows Movie Maker to edit and arrange the material.
NOTE: There seems to be some contention among viewers as to the airline depicted. It was technically Mandarin Airlines, but that airline is the subsidiary of (owned by) China Airlines, and as such, the media and official reports all refer to it as China Airlines flight 642.
i agree, if u watch the video shot by a japanese guy at Naha airport, the stupid guy sounded less concerned and more sneering.

By vraddrag [Affiliate User] 1187974869 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThey shouldn fly planes in bad whether PERIOD!!!!!!! They knw passengers' lives are at risk wen they do that.
By Actlikethat123 [Affiliate User] 1187874617 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removebtw, both "China Airline" and "Mandarin Airline" are airlines based in Taiwan, not in China. Interesting how Taiwanese airlines use the name "China" all over their flagship fleet. Facts: the flagship fleet of China is called "Air China"; flagship fleet of Taiwan is called "China Airline". The two have very drastic safety records: the former is above average; the latter is one of the worst.

By ivanwsp [Affiliate User] 1187599299 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethis is a china airlines, but they paint as Mandarin airlines, because the aircraft is going to transfer to Mandarin Airlines later on, so people might think that this is a Mandarin Airline, not china airlines.
this accident was due to a PILOT ERROR, because crew ignore the aircraft maximum crosswind component, which is only 24 knots.

By WarOfTheKnights [Affiliate User] 1186479518 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIn all the texts from media and others, it is referred to as China Airlines (or as Mandarin Airlines, subsidiary of China Airlines). I didn't name it this; I simply used the most common references from my research.
By JCSpencer2006 [Affiliate User] 1186478235 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveCompletely misleading. Not China Airlines. If Dragonair crash are you going to call it a Cathay Pacific crash?
