I built a Zeppelin windscreen for about $20.00. Listen to the audio test at the end of the demonstration - on a windy day, I stood out front of my yard and tested my homemade windscreen and this was the result.

  • And regarding the ...

And regarding the Brevis, do you really prefer that the most? I like(d) my Letus Extreme, but it's in the shop right now. Aside from it having faulty wiring, its design and ease of use is awesome! I've never used a Brevis, but it likes like a nice adaptor. I just liked how the Letus had the built-in-flip. Someday...I'll glance at the Letus Ultimate, but....that's someday. :) I'll look at your vids now.

  • Since making the ...

Since making the windscreen, I, too, have got the Rode deadcat. And to be honest, I think I get about the same results from my homemade windscreen as I do with the deadcat. The only difference is that the deadcat is much less cumbersome, so I would prefer it to my huge, bulky zeppelin.

  • Those are all great ...

Those are all great suggestions, but if i were to do another homemade windscreen, I'd probably ditch the plastic pipe. I think the paint-roller worked awesome and I also liked using the wire mesh, but the plastic pipe, as you mentioned, is heavy and a little too solid. For a frame, I would consider all wire or maybe a work-light cover that is already dome shaped.

  • You're right - it ...

You're right - it does muffle the sound a bit, but it also got rid of the wind blasts by about 90%. So if your recording a sporting event or something of that nature, it works great for getting rid of the wind crackle. Still plan on doing ADR if your trying to capture dialog for film...OR SPEND $750 FOR TEH REAL THING!!! HA HA HA...

Good effort, but the zeppelin seemed to have muffled the sound a lot. At least that's what I thought.

Man, I'm a boring speaker -- Don't fret, though, I'm not planning to go into an "Inspirational Speaker" carreer.
