  • The Land of make ...

The Land of make Believe I guess is the term used to describe the 'new Britain' that Thatcher was trying to establish and the 'outlaw' described in the song is the representation of the working class being forced to accept the Tory policies but refusing. Sorry if I am ruining the song for you, but I heard there was a rumour that this song is not as innocent as people think and pondered why. Besides 'Barbie Girl' wasn't so innocent. It was about a bimbo wanting sexual acts done to her. Disturbing

  • There was a divide ...

There was a divide amongst the British population during Thatcher's reign as PM. She can be seen as a fine leader who got us through the Falklands and built England into a more developed nation. On the other hand, she was seen as a woman who caused mass unemployment throughout Britain and gained money from crushing smaller businesses to develop the better ones. Bucks Fizz were not only as cheesy as ABBA, they could be as political as Pink Floyd. Very few got that straight away. Even me.
