its running at Nottingham Royal theatre from wed 13th to saturday 16th of August, i saw it on the wednesday and it was so amazing it was just jaw dropping. This vid isn't entirely true to the performance i saw coz they added some stuff and didnt do others, and the music thats played to certain "dances" here are played to other "dances" in the actual thing, but it was FANTASTIC.

  • Exert from Emma ...

Exert from Emma Manning's editorial from Dance Europe Aug/Sept 2008:
"Since creativity is the vital factor in any artistic entity-without out it we have a museum-the paucity of new work announced in the Royal Ballet's plan for next season is somewhat dispiriting. Just two new one act ballets... While the Royal ballet boasts an impressive roster of international dancers it remains something of a closed shop to many of the choreographers currently drawing plaudits on the international dance stage"

  • definitely true ...

definitely true that they need to get out of the dark ages and stop performing so many ancient ballets! But acrobatics are definitely not a good direction to go in at all!

I agree!! New things do need to be done! If you'd read my other comments you'd have seen that! I've already said what i think of the RB's repertoire! But I dont agree that only doing the classical genre would only attract only the older generation! I think that they are starting to go in the right direction by performing forsythe, Wheeldon, and especially by appointing Wayne McGregor resident choreographer. Because they create new, contemporary work, which maintain artistic merit! It is

  • I totally agree ...

I totally agree wiht apresmoi2. Ballet and Opera were once current and modern back in the days. If they want to keep these arts alive, I think it's really important to inject new elements into them to keep them alive.

  • oh come out of the ...

oh come out of the dark ages will you - new things need to be done to attract younger audiences what 14 year old do you know that loves ballet? and how dare you say it isnt worthy of the opera house's stage. If the opera house was to only show ballet and opera and classical genre shows it'll only attract the older generation. Before you critisice something like this why don't you go see it for yourself
