    the rudder is controlled by a servo and the sails as well the sail servo has a very long arm for extra leverage- did you mean spar?

    that is true sometimes and in the case of RC sail boats / ships that do not have propellers , the model sailing vessel will not move if the wind were to stop,(becalmed). for that reason expert sailors always have a retrieval RC tug boat on standby and fully charged! If your in a group regatta make sure you have a friend that has one or get ready to swim!
    some parks do not allow swimmer recovery so look into RC recovery kits and the latest gear.

    Its a Futaba radio servo(2)made for some RC race car. the guys who sold me this crap dont care about seaworthy electronics but It works OK but there are beter controls and radios than this! One sailor can set his sails, the rudder will stay wherever he angles it even if he lets go of the controls!
