  • For me she is one ...

For me she is one of the best singers and Spintosopranos today! Very good recording! And this is composed for such voices! Not like this girls around who think they are spintos and dont understand that they are just liricos. Brava Karitta! Thanks for posting!

  • Bull, I've never ...

Bull, I've never heard this aria sung more beautifully. Emotionally it's hauntingly pure, sensitive, resigned and so right. See we don't need any tremulous effects to convey the emotions as long as the sentiment is there in the voice => Please don't confuse sentiment with sentimentality. As far as sobbing, sliding and other excessive old-school effects, Mattila luckily never took that road. Others should follow her example. ;)

  • Good singing, but ...

Good singing, but KM seems to be singing Brunhilde, not a girl being driven out of her village into the snow. I suppose this could bring on a discussion of how much "sobbing" the diva should do while singing Ebben...

  • My favourite ...

My favourite synopsis of this aria follows: Here the heroine wishes there was a way for her not to leave her village and stay there for ever. And it seems that the Dear God heard her prayers, because in the very next scene she is sent an avalanche to through herself in :o)
