The complete prototype circuit is shown here built on a single PCB. The reflector is made from PVC pipe with a rear mirror. EHT now slightly lower and the gap size has been reduced. Track is 'Hold Me Now' from the Thompson Twins - chosen purely for it's good dynamic range, vocals & clever percussion ! Let me know if would like to see & hear any particular song - see what I can do ;)
gorgeous.. but what happens if you "touch" this electrical arc?

this is pretty interesting.. never knew anything about this >.> until now haha
is it possible to BUY one of these? or not yet atleast =P

Doesn't need it - no Ozone.

By tiddlydum [Affiliate User] 1221677527 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou'd get a bad electrical shock.
By MarsBarClock [Affiliate User] 1221441727 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWooooooooooooooooow cool. LOL.
By Noobtaculus [Affiliate User] 1221267361 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemovePerhaps the biggest drawback would be the fact that the ionization from the arc can cause a buildup of ozone and nitrogen monoxide in the listening environment, which can be a health hazard during extended use without adequate ventilation.
By Watcher3223 [Affiliate User] 1221018799 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBillable consumption of power is measured in watts, not volts. That's why those power meters on the side of a building measure your use of electricity in kilowatt-hour units.
Otherwise, watching TV off a CRT set would be expensive because the operating voltage of a picture tube is around 20,000 to 30,000 volts.
But, the operating amps are relatively low so the resulting watts, or level of work, is low.
Low work = low demand. Low demand = low electrical bill.
So now you need an tube driv en amp for a subwoofer and a mid loudspeaker and your high end sound system is ready

By NFreund [Affiliate User] 1220393698 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYour next challenge: Make that plasma arc act like an oscilloscope.
By denelson83 [Affiliate User] 1220212032 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethe voltage may be high, but the amps are low (so the wattage remains the same)

Upgrade it to WM6, it is worth it.
Anyway, your plasma Speaker F**king rock, except that your energy bill will get expensive as S**t due it is 60.000 volts output
