Real & ancient Korean martial arts are quite different from your popular & commercialized martial arts you know today. QUITE different. Again, the wrist. Koreans' ways were different, but proved deadly effective.

A true master of Taekgyeon could end the fight with a simple strike to the neck with the backside of the fingers/hand. Why? Many REAL Korean martial arts have to do with the power & speed in their wrist. At the same time, they through their whole body in a quick movement into that strike. The power flows through the arm & wrist ending with the fingers/hand.

Along with that, Taekgyeon's standard movement does not mean it's a passive martial art. On the contrary, it's more aggressive (if I could say that), the movement is there to decieve you. Clearly, it succeeded. A true master could end the fight with a simple flick of his wrist striking an opponent in the neck with the backside of his fingers/hand.

either way, I have fought other students at competition from around the world, even a korean from korea. TKD does not stand a chance in real world fighting. just admit it. show me a video of anyone kicking ass with tkd without the stupid useless fancy schmancy foot work. the only time tkd is useful is in a tournament with another tkd fighter.

Most TKD places in the states r comercialized.. they will give u a black belt in less than 2 yrs and take money from you in exchange for the belts. LOL they teach yo how to fight in tornements at best in the states. The reason? Yanks quit so freaking easily when it gets a lil hard. So they have to go easy and teach ppl how to dance like TKD.

bullllllshit. i have taken tkd for 2 years then i left that studio and went to a local gym called LA boxing and within 3 months i have learned more take down techniques than tkd has ever showed me. TKD is the korean version of tae-bo. i'd doubt that any navy seal or marine will back up tkd unless its the korean navy seal/marines.

lol Jusitsu and kick boxing.. you dont know any of the highest skills of TKD that will bring almost instant death to enemies on the real battle field in hand to hand combat mastered by the worlds best Korean marine corp. This is even admitted by many experienced US marines and Navy seals.
