Marilyn Monroe on Jack Benny Show 1953

On viewing this a 2nd time, I picked up on that cute post-kiss exchange where Marilyn says it 'didn't do anything' for her and Jack replies, 'That's funny, I'm a wreck!' Reminds me of the Tom Ewell/Monroe repartee in '7 Year Itch' where he says he's sorry and nothing like that happened to him B 4. She replies, 'It happens to me all the time.' Good writing on this clip and well done by these two great comedians. Very enjoyable.

I had seen this video before but the first time I missed that part where Marilyn says 'the kiss' didn't 'do anything' for her and he replies, 'That's funny, I'm a wreck!'Very funny and reminds me of the scene from 'The 7 Year Itch' where Tom Ewell's post-kiss comment is 'I'm sorry, this sort of thing has never happened to me before',to which Marilyn responds, 'Really, it happens to me all the time.' This clip featured good writing and was masterfully done by these 2 'greats'; Benny and Monroe.

Cut it out Goddess... no one really knows anything about marilyns life.. no one seems to want to read the book she wrote her own autobiography called My Story... I love Marilyn and everyone has a tough life.. no one is immune.
I just wanted to remind everyone that she is playing the part of her character from "gentlemen prefer blondes" called "Lorelli Lee" in this for Mr. Benny lol... I think this is crazy funny.

See, she was first. Without her, there would be no Madonna, Anna Nicole, Pamela lee, etc. If that's a good or a bad thing, I don't know. But she was no 1, and as such, she set the rules for what was to come. She's an icon, whether you like it or not.

Glamour and talent, the likes of which we will probably never see again. I loved Jack Benny and I loved Marilyn.

Of course the women of Old Hollywood were not saints, but they had enough CLASS to keep their personal issues and dalliances to THEMSELVES. They never appeared anything but immaculate in the public eye, and they slept around while doing it in furs and diamonds!

Much is said about Marilyn needing dozens of takes to get a scene right, how does that account for this gorgeous and spontaneous performance? Marilyn was very nervous about acting and also a perfectionist.

Gosh, I just love we can see her genuinely smiling and laughing at the end--it's a side of Marilyn we rarely see!

Marilyn had a way to wiggle (best word I can come up for it) her lips that no other woman in show business has had. Of course, it helped that she could also wiggle her hips like no other woman. She was a lot better actress than she was ever given credit for. My favorite of all her roles was River of No Return, in which I think she stole every scene she was in. Beautiful lady.

Not only was she gorgeous and appealing, but she had wonderful comedic timing. It's rare to find an actress both that beautiful and that witty.
