Canon EOS 450D and Nikon D60 Comparison Review

Alright, there is no way for someone to tell you what better is. I'm a salesman at Circuit City and a photographer my whole life, along with my father, another photographer. The words "Better, best" is an opinion, so the only way that you can decide which is better is by actually playing around with the camera. I personally like the Nikon's but the Canon's do a job well done too. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the sony alphas, or Olympus cams because they have small image sensors..

The XSi looks nice. It's cool that Canon has made a dSLR with many of the "higher end" features at such an affordable price.

However, I shoot Nikon, because I prefer the ergonomics. I just could never get used to the layout of Canon's buttons and what not, and that's a very important aspect of any camera, to me.

I think Nikon is better in this category.

Is that in the US? Here in Australia, the camera's are AUD$1200 the difference. And given that price difference, you really only get marginally better specifications. But the D300 is definitely better, there's no doubt about that.

actually, body only the 40d is around 1,000$, whereby the d300 body only is 1,700$, and that's a big difference Shawn..

definite yes for upgrading from a 400D ? for the price you pay you should get the 40d In my view this camera is way over priced and does not offer anything that special over the 400d

Don't need a camera. I have shutter release built into my right eyelid, so every time I wink, a photo is stored in my brain and printed out of my ass seconds later. SD cards fit right into my belly button for easy data transfer.

my brother has the 400D , and to be honest its perfect for 99% of the photography he does ,my 450D has a few more toys,but im still borrowing his lenses..lol untill i can afford my own ,i need an f/2.8 but would like a f/1.8 for astro & low light

Coffee machine in a camera? what a great idea that way yuo can stay warm & awake while taking astri photographs in the middle of winter on top of a hill,and with wireless internet even better tou could post to your blog or website the instant you took the pic...lol..and one day they will build the camcorder i want.if HD is so good why dont we have video cameras & TVs with the resolution of these cameras ?...TV poor relation to photography.

Soon canon cameras will inclde coffee making machines in their cameras, and maybe wireless internet! And I bet this guy will be like...This is new Canon 850D it has all of these new features, therefore you should buy it..forget about lenses, about quality, about performance....just buy it for the sake it includes free coffee machine!!yuhhooo!

Umm... the D60 and XSi (450D) are definitely NOT direct competitors. Why don't you do a more direct comparison like comparing the XTi to the D60. The XSi (450D) is a good $200 more expensive than the D60. 12.2MP is a bit overkill actually unless you plan on printing some HUGE pictures. Also, is it really that big of a deal to have a .3" bigger screen???
