But it's not your fault, you've been imposed to decades of trash such as Friends even your 'good' comedies aren't really good, Fraiser... Better than Friends etc but hmm... people living in a flat getting into constant realationship problems... wow how original. O wait there's more... a laughter track to remind you when to laugh!? yes please!

Not to say all Americans are dumb because that would be dumb to say, but you are.

And alot of Americans don't get this comedy or Gervais' comedy in general and laugh for the wrong reasons and you're just generally alot slower in wit and irony and can't really keep up.

The Office (good versio) (*UK) is a comedy about comedy, people who think they're funny. Brent is a sleezy lecturous boss who in reality is dying inside and depressed but on the outside displays sleeze and a false smile and thinks he's it.

You americans don't get it because it's subtle n realistic, they kept 'the boring bits' in to make it more realisitc and it is. The Naturalistic acting is also amazing, something else the US version lacks.

Firstly at least use the correct grammar if you're going to speak our F**king language, it's 'Britons' not Britains, there is only one Britain. Also Britain does not mean English, Britain = Scots, Welsh and English.

Still though, I hear the US version is good within its own parameters (ie: those of pantomime rather than pseudo-documentary). What to one viewer is a horrible attempt at realistic human comedy is to another a cracking puppet show, especially to one raised solely on puppet shows.

Looking back, I probably DID overstate your choice of words in prior comments. I'd just finished fuming over the many insipid comments and attacks (mostly from Americans) I'd been seeing beneath other UK Office videos and I was hypersensitive to anyone who should know better in danger of sinking to their level. You are and were nothing like them.

In fairness gcxj220 was the first to get personal if you read back, when he said gay ass britains, I was perfectly civil upto that point. I only said American comedy was rubbish, that wasn't specifically personal to him. I am a very civil person, but also not the type to sit back and take abuse either lol, but again I get where you're coming from. It's all cool, happy days etc lol

Agreed, fair point. I was getting a little carried away with the whole debate, but I still stand by most of my original main points, and I don't remember saying everything American is crud? I meant the majority of American comedy, although America has it locked when it comes to comedy cartoons. Family Guy is superb!

Stevieboy, I agree with you for the most part and have had multiple discussions about exactly these points regarding exactly this/these shows. Yet, calling Americans monkeys and idiots and everything American crud is both unconstructive and untrue.

hey now, i laughed and im american. actually, i like both versions. and the UK version does show here in the states. but i don't have a tv here at college :(

Stevieboy74, don't waste your time with ignorant yanks, the UK Office won every comedy award going and is the best thing since The Young Ones. Comedy like The Office, Brass Eye & The Day to Day (both Chris Morris) will NEVER cross the water because there is something inherently different about our characters and the Office has clearly demonstrated that we have nothing in common with the people we trust to run the planet (a slightly worrying thought).

As the person who posted this video, I am sighing a huge sigh of relief that there are indeed people out there, not just me, who appreciate finely written clever comedy when they see it! All the earlier comment and battles I was having was starting to make me think slapstick was making a huge comeback!!
