indeed, I agree... bonsai with rocks glued to the top are called "malsai" and usually they are very young, dead and cheap, even the pots are usually plastic or of poor quality.
By akinderreality [Affiliate User] 1207289732 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewell, unfortunatly, if you have kept your juniper indoors it is probably dead by now, conifers can't breathe the air indoors, too much bacteria builds up and the tree can't defend itself, if you are interested in indoor bonsai, try tropical or sub-tropical trees like ficus, bottletree or acacia.
By akinderreality [Affiliate User] 1207289628 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI have a juniper bonsai which I put in a bigger pot about two weeks after doing this I noticed a brown patch developing. I took a bonsai expert's advise and cut away the brn spots and put it back in the original pot. It is about six months later and the hole has not filled I keep this tree inside can anyone help me with this is there something I am missing. Should I put it outside? Seems kinda cold here for it to be out there. Any info is appreciated.
By tempo1889 [Affiliate User] 1206499008 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI'd advise you avoid that. I've seen very few of those live. They glue the rocks on the top, and therefore, no matter how much you water, it just runs off. Also, the ones you buy in the mall, especially junipers, are probably dead before you even by them (conifers can stay green and healthy looking for weeks after death). Want a cheap one? Spend $20 on Bonsai by Sunset (book) and spend about $10 on a small tree from the nursery and you can make your own.

By 101bonsaiking [Affiliate User] 1201569684 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYes. It is true. This Limits root growth and that affects the entire growth of the Tree/Plant.
By bickerbacker [Affiliate User] 1199645640 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei read that bonsai trees are like fish they grow to the size ov the pot is that true
By lilcow418 [Affiliate User] 1199324564 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveOkay, I'm sorry. I thought he said "and" indoors, not "not indoors".
By SanRafaelSwell [Affiliate User] 1193346765 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveCorrection. No self respecting juniper will last indoors all year. These species REQUIRE dormancy to live long lives. Grown indoors all year they will die within five years. DO NOT GROW JUNIPERS INDOORS!

By gatillero234 [Affiliate User] 1187646415 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveJuniper can not be grown inside, it may be the level of sunlight, humidity, temperature stability, or many other variables that do that.. Care of bonsai is all about the consistent watering(mostly at least), and if you are a busy person you might want to take a class.. Especially if you live in the desert like I do.
