I'am only half Filipino born in the US, as a child I was exposed to my heritage. I noticed that many filipinos tried to distinguish the differences between the Tagalog's, Visayan's Ilcanos and Muslims. They all share kindness, giving, spiritualness and the love of family and many customs. We are Spanish, Chinese, American but most of all Malay!!!

Spanish dances are great like habanera, konan, panderitas, pero muslim dances talaga like kappa malong malong, maglangka and especially the every great singkil are nationalistic talaga,, mas pinoy na pinoy ,, pag spanish dance kasi parang subsidiaray lang tau sa culture ng mga spaniards eh...pero maganda tlga ang aray,,, heheheh peace out!!!

filipno culture is a mix of evrything. we embrace all of them. even spanish, although we sometimes feel hostile towards Spain. You have forgotten to cite that the Manobo people have their panaksoy and sulam-sulang and a flamboyant headress called saloloy or panica that looks like peacock tail. The Tboli costume is very beautiful too esp the Slaong kenibang, their swat, siging and albong takmun not to mention the brass belt with hundreds of saliyaw. The Malay sarong kebaya or Vietnamese ao dai are a little boring and unsophisticated to me.

I believe there were many creole dialects in the Philippines, while locals tried to adapt to a new society and interact with the Spaniards. The frailes were no problem, they were actually guilty of 'inventing' new dialects combining prehispanic grammar and words and Castilian (wrongly called 'Spanish'). These creole languages are mostly extinct, Chabacano is a generic term to denote all 'creole' languages. I believe Chabacano is a treasure.

In my personal opinion: Filipino... is Spanish. There is no "filipinoness" before Spain forces together thousands of datus and rival tribes from many different mini nations (7,100 islands) into 'one state'. That 'new state', is Philippines. Its Spanish component is inseparable, otherwise it isn't filipino.

hispanic is a culture...not a race..a culture were people from latin america speak spanish..and share the spanish culture brought to them from spain. Hispanics can be from ANY race..african..european..native american..mixed...and some even asian.
