its not "fundamental" its conventional math. In Ancient India this was considered "fundamental" math. These math tricks aren't new, they are very old. In fact, if you study ancient Indian history you will find that most of our math came from Vedic. Also western math philosophy is that there is only one way to do math and any other way is wrong. So we fail to explore. In Vedic math, the concept is that there are many way to find one solution and that is true way of learning fundamental math.

In school, you have to learn how multiplication fundamentally works to understand higher concepts. This is not fundamental, even though it is much faster.

why the hell didn't they teach us how to multiply like this when we first learned multiplication?? guess it was a conspiracy to help out the people who manufacture calculators make more money! ha ha :P thanks for the vid!
