Okay that explains it.. But couldnt they deactivate it? I mean the explosion is big enough to hit it even in distance and the human ships have shields so they would be safe xD

Yep, they named it after the russian who pioneered Russia's Space Program.

The reason why is because nukes don't arm till it reaches a minimum safe distance from the target, so it doesn't blow up in the launchers faces and damages them. Hunt for Red October explained the same thing with torpedoes in a submarine battle.
