Although it traumatises the body, in some cases i have read that ECT has had signficant outcomes, based on what people recieveing the ECT have then gone on to achieve in society. Some people take over 30 treatments.
If we all percieve things differently, then we see things differently, then we heal differently, genetically and environmentally....Sounds like ECT is not for her...

my mother went into a mental hospital after her prozac seemed to stop working. She was given 8 out of 12 electric shock treatments before she could no longer take the torture. It did her no good other than taking away her memory. They told her that somehow the electric shock treatments would actually "kick" her prozac back into working. I still cant believe she ever went through with it.

I think gavorette06 is referring to bullshit mental "disorders" like "Antisocial Disorder". Okay, so if you don't like being around other unlike minded people, you've got some kind of illness/disorder or whatever you want to call it.
That's basically what such things say. Hell, I'm antisocial, but for good reason(kids my age for the most part bore me), yet I would be diagnosed with such a mental "disorder". Give me a F**king break!

Medical science and Mental illness go hand in hand my friend.... ever heard of a chemical imbalance and medication that replaces the seritonan or dopamene difficiancy, or how about cat scans that actually show the difference from a brain with schizophrenia vs. one without it the comparison is self evident that it is in fact an illness. Like cancer it can be treated yet, at this time not cured..the only conspiracy I see, is whether or not theres a cure or just a treatment..
