This is a historic concert that folks still rave about. If you were there, feel lucky, because you were a part of history. This is considered by many to be one of the greatest concerts in the short history of "Hard Rock/Metal". Grand Funk Railroad was truly a "Performance Vehicle". Once I had a little girl, sometimes I think about her,
But, buddy, you know shes not really there.
When memories do call, I just, I just cant live without her
But tryin all the time is so hard to bear.
Chorus
Heartbreaker, cant take her,
Heartbreaker, bringing me down.
Heartbreaker, cant take her,
Heartbreaker, bringing me down.
I dont cry no more, I live while Im flying,
But Ill think back, and you can hear me say:
Chorus

Half-chorus

By PackedFunk [Affiliate User] 1205528252 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYes. Mark Farner and Don Brewer were the showmen of GFR, especially here. But, it's Mel Schacher's unbelievable bass line that powers this song! He and John Entwistle were pioneers and brought the bass out from the background. Mel's one of the most underrated bassists ever.

Man, this song was a real part of my life 30 years ago. Word 4 word.
Love this song! Love this ending!
Best 70's band EVER!

They SO deserve this!
Sorry I keep fuckin' commentin' on this. The guys seem to always call themselves a garage band. And Mark, even after the GFR heyday, he's said he's wanted to become a better guitar player. I know he's been slammed in the press during his career (he seems to be getting a bit more critical respect nowadays), and again I'm a non-musician, but I feel he and the band were ultimately modest. They've obviously made people happy. "Rock & Roll American Style/It's gonna be around for awhile!"

By respect43 [Affiliate User] 1204237199 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is my favorite live version of this tune that I've heard. Farner's voice is completely on, and the dude, I know that critically he's not usually rated high or even mentioned, and I don't play guitar, but outside of Tommy Bolin, the guy is an incredible guitarist. I've heard all the Funk stuff, and I feel that I can just hear his progression into an outstanding lead guitarist, especially around this period. I completely dig the Craig Frost GFR! Mark plays vicious guitar on "El Salvador!"

By dieneshugi [Affiliate User] 1203941190 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveMichael F**king Jackson is in that joke of a hall of fame!! Is Rush? Is Deep Purple? Is Rory Gallagher? Why is Mellencamp in there? That is totally fucked!!! I bet Johnny Winter isn't in there! Like Tim Wilson says. "It's a Sorry World!"
By philfast314 [Affiliate User] 1203886612 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Remove"HEARTBEAKER"....a Grand Funk Railroad MASTERPIECE! Mark Farner wrote some of the very best rock songs of the day back in the day. GFRxR's early albums are still on sale at your local music store...no rock collection is complete without them!

This song is so damn good it gives me the chills everytime I hear it. When I hear this song it kinda depresses me that I'm single. But anyway, nobody ever sang like Mark Farner. The prettiest voice I've ever heard.
