A DY-86 vacuum high voltage rectifier (from old tv set) connected to a HV generator made of two ignition coils. This generator gives very short pulses of about 50-70 kV with frequency of several Hz. It generates pulsed x-rays, but this radiation is far to small to make any x-ray pictures.

There is absolutely no x-rays after disconnecting the tube or turning the high voltage off. That single counts that you can see on the dosimeter's display is caused by background radiation and it's normal. It comes mostly from Radon-222 that is contained in air. In my region background radiation gives about 20-30 CPM in geiger counters.

Nice Source For Röntgen Radiation, (X-Rays), Nice Project, Esp. Using An Old Vacuum Tube From A CRT TV. Some Old General Electric CRT TV's Gave Off X-Rays, But When It Was Found Out, They Pulled Them Off The Market, But This Was Decades Ago, 60's I Think... It's Great To Have People Like You, Who Will Enlighten And Make People Smarter! Keep Up The Good Work! Great Work! Nice Setup! 10+ Rating! Awesome!!
