By GuitarDinger [Affiliate User] 1197445006 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removegowan may have a personality that works so well with tommy and jy, but creatively and musically, i'll always love to have dennis, tommy and jy together. there's just nothing like it when these three work together. dennis and tommy are such a foil for each other and that results into the greatest music this band has ever produced.
By zilam98 [Affiliate User] 1196180467 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveUmmm, last I checked there's this little thing called "Freedom of Speech". Gargantuan bunch of papparazzi? Get a grip! This is an adult conversation(except for a few idiots) and as always, people have different opinions. You never read or watch things on famous people? Please!! Hypocrite!
By CrystalBall1976 [Affiliate User] 1196054406 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou know what, people? Why should we give a F**k about the personal life of Styx? What are we, a gargantuan bunch of papparazzi? Leave them alone, and focus on what is important: The music of styx. How they get along on the stage will be how we judge their personalities. So Dennis may be an asshole (I'm not even saying this is true), or so J.Y may be slightly arrogant. Does any of this info make you dislike styx more? NO! So shut up.

By Bergstaller01 [Affiliate User] 1195253917 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat was flippin cool!
By hopper433 [Affiliate User] 1194722701 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemovePaul, you are WRONG. DDY's stong points was theatrics and ballads though rocked out when he could. Tommy was country, folk, rock and blues. JY was hard rock. When the three functioned they were Styx. that idiot leprechaun sounding Gowan's spinning keyboard trick and Robert Plant c*ck rock posture makes Styx laughable.
By obcpwaves [Affiliate User] 1193496123 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWRONG!!! Tommy had nothing to do with it. DDY decided he wanted to go Broadway style music, Tommy wanted Styx to go back to the music that they knew best. It was nothing more than two people with two different ideas. DDY got the big head....however.

By RedheadMom2 [Affiliate User] 1192394357 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDennis said his way or the highway and they choose the highwasy. They didnt want to sit around for another 7 years or longer waiting for Dennis to get ready...
By sdbjr23 [Affiliate User] 1192279797 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt's not right to say Tommy had "small man's syndrome" just because of his physical height. The "truth" is that Tommy is an incredible talent in his own right and wanted Styx to go on. Dennis chose not to want that. That was a group decision, not Tommy trying to be a big man.
By TommyShawRox [Affiliate User] 1192273951 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveStyx were best when Dennis, JY and Tommy were working together in unison. They suffer without each other. The truth is Tommy developed "small man's syndrome" in 1998, JY was practically an arrogant man and DDY had his issues but when they imploded, it was it!
By obcpwaves [Affiliate User] 1191709997 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveUltimately the band is going to do what they want to do and it doesn't look like Senior DeYoung is part of that. The band works well as it is now even with Chuckie seeming to play with them more and more. No one is trying to upstage anyone else and they all work together to put on a great show. Say what you will about Gowan he works his ass off on stage and I'll take work over ego every time
By Azznbad [Affiliate User] 1191463284 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat's what makes Tommy so well rounded musically. He can do Damn Yankees and Shaw/Blades then return to Styx without missing a beat. Yes, JY can be arrogant, but his intelligence and business savy made them millionares. He was the financial genius that allowed them to sit pretty and concentrate on the music.
By lepfan4evr [Affiliate User] 1191403914 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhat on earth does Def Leppard have to do with this conversation? And for the record, I never said DDY quit, and to say that JY wanted Styx to himself is a bit odd considering that Tommy has way more power than JY. Without Tommy, there is no Styx. And, I'm all for DDY coming back! It's not the same Styx without him.
By lepfan4evr [Affiliate User] 1191403538 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI never liked Gowan as a solo artist, so why would I give him a chance.
By brianburry [Affiliate User] 1191378905 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLeppard haven't rocked since Steve Clark died. People that view DDY as a Hypochondriac are the same way people whom view David Gilmour of Pink Floyd as Hypo as well due to the band's lack of activity since 1995.
By obcpwaves [Affiliate User] 1191365352 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveShaw delivered on the Crystal Ball, TGI, PoE, Cornerstone and Kilroy albums. He had somewhat of a block on PT and had two solo credits. Shaw's first solo disc GWG was great, one-time Queen engineer Mike Stone made that album sound great.
By obcpwaves [Affiliate User] 1191365203 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI watched Styx live in 1981 and that was PRIME STYX. JY comes across as arrogant and even admitted on a radio interview that he annoyed the others with his hendrix influence. Shaw had some country, blues and folk in him.
By obcpwaves [Affiliate User] 1191364510 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDDY didn't quit, he was FIRED. Shades of VH saying Hagar quit when he was actually CANNED! The third side to the whole Styx/DDY fiasco was JY wanted Styx for himself. DDY hoped to be back once recuperated but shot down. Styx 1972-1999. The Shaw-Young Band 1999-who knows.
By obcpwaves [Affiliate User] 1191364333 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI was taught not to believe everything you read. Shaw wasn't all rocker guy. He had some folk songs, country influence and pop as well. Deyoung switched to ballads as art rock/prog was on its death bed thanks to punk and disco. Just like Genesis, Styx had to change to survive.
