Usually you drill small holes in whatever you are molding, so the vacuum S**ks THROUGH the thing you are molding. I worked in a shop that had one, they made the molds out of plaster and drilled them small so the plastic wouldn't dimple into the holes.

don't wear gloves when you are wood working it is ok when your moving wood but when you are using machinery it is way too easy to get it cough in the machine and lose some fingers

Oh my god! This would be so helpful for making...any kind of custom armor! Never again will I buy cheap masks from the store! I can just make my own! This is soo amazing!

If you had a larger pegboard/vacuum combo you could use it for screen-printing. The vacuum tables we used at college cost a bomb but they really do the job when it comes to holding the paper down, so a home-made alternative would be jolly spiffing

Foil tape is duct tape. That is, it's used to seal ducts. Your house's heating and cooling ducts have it.
Duct tape was originally for sealing ammo boxes in WWII, not sealing air tight containers.

he should have placed an o-ring around the suction cup it would have held the suction a bit better.

but good project idea, always wondered about making a mold

Since things are heating up it might not be a good idea to use plastic toys as was suggested.
