this is how to know whether the r/c pilot is bad:
1)easy take off(anyone can do it),
2)up and down only, no turns no maneuvers,
3)BAD LANDINGS!

This pilot like a lot of scale heli fans spent more time building and tuning than practicing flying birds. I would advise him to train 30 minutes everyday on a simulator for a month. Then buy a very basic 50 size heli to train hovering face to him. After 2 months this pilot will amaze himself and others. He will then be able to master his beautiful turbine and make smooth and wonderful flights ! Good luck !

Turbine was running fine, it looks like a newbie pilot dumped the throttle.

Scale turbines are the domain of those who really like to spend loads of money on wonkey technology. Think about the computerization that keeps a real helo's jet turbine running - it is not there on a 'scale' model like this, and "running out of fuel"? Letting a pilot fly a moneytrap like this when he is not aware of the flight time limitations? I fly foam-made parkflyers with LiPos and even I know when to land. Kinda silly.

Sounds like the turbine is spinning just fine after the pilot slammed it into the ground. I doesn't look like he/she is a good pilot anyways, lots of jerky movement and just hovering around. Next time get a video of it doing some high speed passes and actual flying.
