My friend, dont be at all concerned with that, all those speeds are worked out and calculated to the detail before the pilots even get the aircraft moving :-) Its all done very professionaly, they spend more then 45 minutes in the cockpit usually before even anyone has boarded! It is all calculated down to the most minute detail a lot of the time

Haku003, there is an indicator on the panel, showing the speed to the pilot! It may be analog or digital! Of course, it is necessary to match speed and weight to define the needed speed to lift up the aircraft!

  • Hello Meppers! Of ...

Hello Meppers! Of course airplanes(most of the commercial jets) have reverse, but the reverse is only used to stop the airplane when it is landing at the runway! The use of engine thrust near terminals is restricted, so the reverse shall not be used when an aiplane is being pushed backwards away from an airport gate!

Those were probably flight attendants talking to the passengers, but even if it was the pilot, he wasn't talking to ATC. It is true that the ATC's worldwide communicate in English.
