A new, high resolution, interactive map of United States carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels has found that the emissions aren't all where we thought. The maps and system, called Vulcan, show CO2 emissions at more than 100 times more detail than was available before. Until now, data on carbon dioxide emissions were reported, in the best cases, monthly at the level of an entire state grid. The Vulcan model examines CO2 emissions at local levels on an hourly basis. Purdue researchers say the maps are also more accurate than previous data because they are based on greenhouse gas emissions instead of estimates based on population in areas of the United States.

  • Are those the same ...

Are those the same PHDs that gave us oil refineries, petrol filled cars, nuclear weapons, DDT, Dioxin, etc?

Yes...I can see why we should blindly follow them yet again...

    =/

  • You (probably) are ...

You (probably) are not credentialed. So of course you could simply fabricate data and produce a video. I don't see the point.

Obtaining actual data, and producing a semi-understandable animation for laymen, is much harder. And with a lifetime of education/reputation on the line.

  • This kind of ...

This kind of propaganda is simply annoying. I can make you a five minute documentary, complete with wobbly maps, that shows the opposite.

  • How dare you use ...

How dare you use empirical data to create a real time simulation of CO2 emissions in the US! Clearly you hate the US and all it stands for. So what if you have your scientific formulas and observed research. I have the power of faith!
Your studies of observable phenomenon will never convince me!

  • Carbon Monoxide is ...

Carbon Monoxide is only produced in incomplete combustion. Cars before the 1990's did produce more Carbon Monoxide because of poor efficiencies. (still way more carbon Dioxide though)
Before you write a moment of research would help you with your points.
As for the belief of god taking care of everything....I believe there is the idea that we are to be good shepherds of the planet we were given.

  • I am informed. I ...

I am informed. I know that humans are far too small to affect the planet either way. Everyone is trying to save something that won't be around for much longer. Humanity has been lied to. If people would put their faith in God, the creator, instead of earth, the creation, people would know this. But seriously, why are the people who were crying "new ice age" in the '70s, now crying "global warming?" It confuses me. CO, or CO1, Carbon Monoxide, mono meaning one. I think I've made my point.

  • Even if you refuse ...

Even if you refuse to believe in the connection between carbon and warming...you can reduce usage of power and reduce the other (Lead, Mercury, etc) by-products of burning coal, oil, natural gas, etc. Not to mention save yourself a little money maybe use the extra cash for a book or two?
