I like it. Doesn't seem as stable as some of the other DIY steady cams rigs on here, but I'm sure that just comes with more practice. Very sleek design and the stand is an extra bonus!! I give it a visual 8 out of 10. :)

actually for the gimbal, the less friction the better. You don't counter the pendulum swing by friction, you counter it by properly balance the rig. It swings because it's too bottom heavy.

a properly balanced rig with slow drop time will do the trick. (about 3 seconds) But most of the times you have to know how to compensate for it with your control hand...

What can be done to keep a steadycam from leaning left or right when turning a corner? I want the camera to remain perpendicular to ground at all times, even when I change direction. Thanks in advance.

nice job! What i would do is add two horizontal tilt stabilizers to keep it from swinging.. Great ingenuity so far!

hy ... great job u did there but i ask u if u can do a little "tutorial" how u made this because to buy steadicam merlin it's expensive then my camera :) or to ghive us a simple solution i mean a cheap one. thanks

i think it needs more resistance. the ball head seems a bit too loose to the pendulum swing in the test footage, Perhaps a quick fix would be placing a few good elasctics near prime points of pivoting action./
