  • Faythe, Wow! what ...

    Faythe,
Wow! what an overwhelmingly broad topic! I applaude your "moxy" for taking it on! Whether the projects are whimsical or sophisticated, those in the crafting community are true, serious, artists in their own right, whose expressions bring fun and beauty to others. It is also fun to see the faces of so many familiar names! ;-D

  • Actually, the whole ...

Actually, the whole movement exists to get away from toilet roll cover type crafts. That couldn't be a poorer example of what indie crafters are doing.

  • There is a reason ...

There is a reason that CCA(c) has taken the Craft off their name... it has to do with dilution. This movie is part of that dilution.

  • This looks like a ...

This looks like a really fantastic doco- I can't wait till it's finished. As a fellow craftster artist I am so thrilled to see our handmade world expanding, the rise of recycling/reusing/rethinking and the fall of relying on a big factory to give you what you want...art is the best possible way to interact with life. (well, except maybe for love...^_^)

  • I understand this, ...

I understand this, but the meaning of the word theese days is more often applied to hand knitted toilet roll covers at a flea market as opposed to craft in the realm of high arts, ancient practises and not readily obtained amounts tacit knowledge. From what I see here your definition seems to lean to the former rather than the latter.
I still think what you are doing is a good idea, just trying to point out that some people have a very differing opinions on the use of the word.

I wonder what kind of craft you are referring to? I think there are so many differnt types of craft that are thriving today-- this documentary is just showcasing a new generation of makers.

  • The connection ...

The connection between indie music and the craft/fee art/fashion thing is valid and really real.....best part is that it has been going on for generations, which one young woman tried to point out. Documentary will be great and thanks for taking this on Faythe. There is always strength, and growth, in numbers, and then people get even more creative - a really important factor in the art world - whether underground, or 'pop' mainstream.
